Craig R. Bucheit was appointed City Manager of Hamilton, Ohio, on April 6, 2024. Born and raised in the city he now leads, Craig has dedicated his entire career to serving his community, continuing to drive Hamilton’s growth and revitalization with a focus on safety, innovation, and community engagement.
Craig’s public service journey began in 1995 with the Butler County Water and Sewer Department. In 1997, he joined the City of Hamilton as a police officer, steadily rising through the ranks of the Hamilton Police Department to become Chief of Police in 2015.
Craig graduated magna cum laude from Ohio University with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, and later earned his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the University of Dayton School of Law.
David C. Jones, CPA, has served as the Finance Director sine July 31, 2017. He began his career with the City in July 1997 as an Accountant in the Finance Department where he was quickly promoted to Senior Accountant in 1998. Dave was promoted again in 2014 to Finance Manager, and later to Assistant Finance Director. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He has been licensed as a CPA in the State of Ohio for over twenty years.
Matthew B. McKinney, CPA, has served as the Assistant Finance Director since August 14, 2017. Previously, he served as Comptroller for nearly three years. He began his career with the City in March 2013 as a Senior Accountant in the Finance Department. Before coming to Hamilton, he worked for the Auditor of the State of Ohio for eight years as an Assistant Auditor and for Plattenburg & Associates, CPA's as an Audit Manager for two years. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio and a Master's degree in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati. He has been licensed as a CPA in the State of Ohio for over ten years.
Edwin Porter was born and raised in Southwest Ohio and graduated from Turpin High School.
Edwin started his professional career in 2005 working for Balfour Beatty Construction in Lakeland and Bradenton, Florida before joining CH2M Hill, an international design engineering and consulting firm, in 2007.
After graduating from the University of Cincinnati in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Edwin was hired as a full time Mechanical Engineer at CH2M Hill as part of the Industrial and Advanced Technologies business group, located in the Cincinnati Office. While at CH2M Hill, Edwin held increasing roles and responsibilities as a Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager serving various clients in consumer goods, life sciences, chemicals, food and beverage, manufacturing, and technology industries. In 2014, Edwin earned his professional engineering (P.E.) license in the State of Ohio and currently holds P.E. licenses in Ohio, Iowa, Louisiana and West Virginia.
Edwin is a past President of the Cincinnati Chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers and served several years on the Board of Governors.
Edwin joined the City of Hamilton in August 2017 as the Supervising Mechanical Engineer in the Department of Infrastructure, Division of Utility Operations. During his time in this role, Edwin has spent the majority of his time serving the drinking water, electric and wastewater treatment plants. He is passionate about identifying and implementing innovative ideas, processes, and programs to eliminate waste, maximize efficiency and develop a culture of continuous improvement.
In August of 2021, Edwin was promoted to the Executive Director of Infrastructure for the City of Hamilton and continues to serve in this role.
